About Me

Hi Folks,

Thank you for taking the time to visit my website.

Having spent nearly twenty years in the corporate world, I decided to make a career change and finally do something that I truly enjoy...working with horses.  I've always had a strong adoration for animals and especially our equine friends.  I've had horses all my life and currently have seven here at my farm in Ridgetown.   When I'm not upside down working on their feet I'm usually in the saddle.  Oh and don't let the cowboy hat fool you; I ride English as well.

Throughout the years I had done some "cowboy trimming" on my own horses, but to attain the skills needed to embark on farriery as a full-time profession I attended farrier school in the State of Missouri.  While attending school I studied daily under BWFA Master Farrier, Max Williams, and BWFA Journeyman Farrier, Kelly Case.  Having graduated from their school and passing the required examinations of the Brotherhood of Working Farriers Association, I am now a BWFA Certified Farrier and association member.

As in any business, quality and customer satisfaction are the keys to success.  I take great pride in the knowledge I have today and look forward to that which I will learn tomorrow.

As a result of research and advanced technology, there are always new products and techniques being introduced to the equine industry.  I make every effort to attend farrier clinics and conventions to ensure that I'm aware of the latest our industry has to offer.

Working Together

While the hoof is a long way from the heart, hooves are equally as important to the life of a horse.  As a professional member of your horse's health care team, I can't rush my work.  In addition to observing and physically working on your horse, I need time to discuss your horse with you.  To ensure that we make the best use of your appointment time, I ask that you please have your horse(s) in and ready for their appointment.  During cold winter months, whenever possible, please stable your horse(s) the night before.  This is especially important if your horse requires a Vettec application.

Safety & Comfort

Unfortunately, horses like farriers almost as much as they like veterinarians.  I'd like to change their outlook on the farrier and therefore have no desire to engage in a fight...more importantly I can't afford to get injured.  If your horse won't stand properly for farrier work, let's work on that in a positive way.  The greatest issue for your horse, other than trusting the farrier, is comfort with it's surroundings.  While you are welcome to trailer your horse to me, I would much rather go to your horse.  Familiar surroundings and a farrier whose focus is a positive relationship with your horse, will make a world of difference.  Let's make it a positive experience for all so you never again have to dread "farrier day".
